AV&C, an award winning experience design & creative technology studio, seeks a Junior Technologist to assist in the prototyping and execution of unique media & interactive installations. This is a full time position, in our Tribeca, NYC studio.
Work very hard and have fun creating custom technology solutions for blue-chip brand and architectural clients, globally.
Are a multidisciplinary group of designers, technologists & creative coders who leverage cutting edge technical approaches to do our creative bidding, and accomplish unprecedented outcomes in both temporary and permanent installations.
Contribute to amazing projects with top shelf collaborators for world class clients & brands.
Draw on expertise in fields ranging from AV & IT systems, show control, custom electronics, embedded systems, sensors & machine vision, industrial automation, etc to create highly custom, purpose built systems that enable our software layers to deliver a designed user experience.
Have a fundamental background & understanding of interaction & audiovisual technologies, signal flows, basic electronics, software systems, and networking.
Have an interest and experience in combining technology & materials in both temporary and permanent installations.
Have experience in making things: Hand tool & power tool use, soldering, the occasional small carpentry project, and a healthy respect for McMaster-Carr & Grainger catalogs.
Ideally have some experience with scripting languages, physical computing platforms, and/or basic Linux chops.
Have strong communication skills and thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
Have a solid work ethic: Listen, take direction, speak up when you need clarification or have ideas, and work efficiently.
Are organized and can manage your time effectively
Are permitted to work legally in the US
Assist in the creation of mockups & prototypes: Setting up technology, building temporary structures, testing & experimenting with various materials, and helping to document the results.
Assist with material receiving in our studio and occasionally on job sites. Candidate should be willing and able to handle boxes and devices of up to 40 lbs without assistance.
Assist with the integration of equipment racks and technology in our studio. Previous experience in building racks is helpful, but not a requirement.
Help keep our shop and storage areas clean and organized.
Assist Engineers with the on-site installation of systems & technology.
Assist the Support Manager in resolving issues on existing installations.
This is an entry-level position, with room for growth.
